Saffron Arts + Ed
The Inspired Students Mural Initiative is a nationwide, community-based art program partnering with primarily elementary schools across the United States. Through project-based learning, students collaborate with and are mentored by acclaimed local and national muralists. Each mural project becomes a shared creative journey that celebrates community, amplifies student voices, and transforms public spaces.
Where Art + Community Meet
Students participate in hands-on creative workshops where they design their own mini-murals and assist in creating a large-scale mural on their school campus. Through this process, they learn about artistic vision and the creative process while developing communication, creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration skills.
Each project is typically implemented over two days using a designated wall space at the school. The mission of the Inspired Students Mural Initiative is to educate, inspire, and build meaningful connections among students and communities. By partnering with schools across the United States, the initiative gives students the unique experience of working alongside professional muralists to co-create permanent artworks for their campuses.

What We’ve Done
From Spring 2024 through Spring 2025, the Inspired Students Mural Initiative brought color, creativity, and collaboration to 12 schools, mentoring over 7,000 students along the way. Each project turned blank walls into vibrant canvases and gave young people a chance to see their own ideas come to life.
This impact was made possible through Proposition 28 funding, PTA contributions, private sponsorships, and grants—proof that when communities, educators, and artists come together, extraordinary transformations can happen.
Vision
Our initiative is growing quickly. Looking ahead to the 2025/2026 season, we’re preparing to add 10 additional schoolsand inspire 5,000 more students with hands-on creative learning experiences.
